One of today's most popular cosmetic treatments, Porcelain Veneers instantly mask stains, chips, and slight misalignments that can impact the appearance of your smile. Fabricated from fine dental porcelain or composited resin materials, veneers are semi-translucent and reflect light like natural tooth enamel. Your smile will look natural and appealing.
As your cosmetic dentist, Dr. DeRose will custom-design each one of your veneers according to the changes you would like to make to your smile. For example, he can:
• Straighten or Change the Shape of Unattractive/Misaligned Teeth
• Cover Stained, Chipped, or Broken Teeth
• Unify Asymmetrical Teeth
• Completely Transform Your Smile!
• Permanently Whiten Your Teeth
There's almost no limit to the improvements Dr. DeRose can create with porcelain veneers. To receive porcelain veneers, your teeth need to be in relatively good condition, meaning that you do not have any cavities and there are no signs of gum disease. If either of these conditions is present, Dr. DeRose will want to treat these underlying concerns before placing your veneers.
With conventional veneers, Dr. DeRose must reshape the teeth in preparation. This is done in order to make room for the veneers. A local anesthetic is administered and then a small amount of tooth enamel is removed and, if necessary, the size of a tooth is reduced. In this way, your veneers will fit seamlessly in you mouth and not protrude.
For patients who would prefer not to have their teeth reshaped prior to veneer placement, Dr. DeRose may suggest Lumineers®. As thin as porcelain veneers are, Lumineers are even thinner—about as thin as a contact lens. Because your teeth are not altered in any way, placing Lumineers usually does not require local anesthesia. Like porcelain veneers, Lumineers are adhesively bonded to the facial side of your front teeth to conceal the smile that Mother Nature gave you and create the smile you want. Moreover, if you ever decide to have your Lumineers removed, the procedure can be reversed in the future because your natural teeth have not been changed.
In most cases, we can place porcelain Veneers or Lumineers in just two office visits. At the first visit, we take an impression of your teeth and, in the case of porcelain veneers, we also prepare you teeth. Our dental lab uses the impression to custom craft your veneers. Then, at the your follow-up visit, Dr. DeRose checks each veneers for color, shape and size. If he’s completely satisfied, then the veneers are bonded to your teeth and you have a smile that is simply beautiful!
To complete your smile makeover, Dr. DeRose may recommend combining veneers or Lumineers with other cosmetic enhancements, such as TEETH WHITENING or porcelain crowns.
